Lean Green Manufacturing Network
In brief this network will enable participating companies to:
- Develop their lean green manufacturing processes
- Improve their planning for environmental performance
- Learn the multitude business benefits of implementing a lean green approach
- Commit towards improved resource efficiency
- Move toward a recognised environmental standard such as ISO 14001 or BS 8555 if they have not yet achieved the EMS standard
- Improve their overall business performance by reducing manufacturing costs; (whilst not negatively affecting their output or delivery); in addition to improving their measurable environmental performance.
- Benefit from the transfer of knowledge from Pro Enviro’s experienced consultants in lean green manufacturing. In this way the sustainability of the lean green network is guaranteed.
The Network will also:
- Provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on the latest developments and publications relating to Environmental Lean Green Manufacturing
- Encourage the sharing of ideas between participants and case studies of successful projects previously undertaken and thus encouraging maximum benefit to be targeted by participating companies.
- Enable participants to further cement and share their ideas, as well as receiving further ideas for efficiency improvement from industry experts, through regular network meetings.
- Ensure that participants reduce their manufacturing costs.
Benefits
Participating companies will benefit from improved lean green manufacturing techniques and the associated cost benefits, while individual employees will benefit from an increased awareness and skill level regarding lean green manufacturing. The automotive sector and the economy as a whole will benefit from more efficient manufacturing and associated emissions reductions and an improved environmental performance.
The emphasis of this Network is the creation of a high level of environmental awareness and knowledge within the participating companies to support effective manufacturing. The adoption of new technologies and innovative methods will introduce cleaner and more efficient processes creating a positive effect on the environment and sustainability of the automotive sector.
The use of IT and ICT for the partial delivery and management of the project supports the environmental sustainability requirements of the UK by reducing unnecessary travel and wasted time within busy organisations. This is also aided by the fact that the majority of the work is done within the company thereby reducing the need for participants to travel. The effective implementation of the Network will ensure that the participating companies will improve their manufacturing efficiency and become more environmentally sustainable themselves.
